English Karate Federation will host the 10th Commonwealth Karate Championships in the city of Birmingham on the 7th to 11th September 2022. We extend the warmest invitation to all Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF) members and hope that you will join us in celebration ofthissignificant milestone for oursport.
There will, in fact, be two championships in Birmingham. The CKF Championship which is open solely to National Teams, followed by the CKF ‘Club’ Championship which provides opportunity for all members of the CKF.
Our event will be held in the recently built Sports and Fitness Centre. University of Birmingham, Edgbaston Campus. Official accommodation is within walking distance of the venue, as are various shops and restaurants. Thecity centre is a short distance away and easily accessible.
Birmingham has a rich history and offers a variety of cultural, sporting and leisure opportunities. There are several premier league football clubs, Edgbaston cricket ground, a number of theatres, and countless bars and restaurants. For those that might wish to explore a little further, then Shakespeare country is 45mins away, and London can be reached within 90mins.
As England’s second city, Birmingham will host the Commonwealth games in 2022. The ambition of the CKF is to one day see Karate introduced to the Commonwealth Games proper. We are taking this opportunity to showcase our sport in the host city to further our ambition. We look forward to welcoming friends and colleagues from all over the Commonwealth, and call upon all CKF nations to support this important event.
